Very fine and unusual late 18th Century mahogany Wheel Barometer. The elegant front-to-back ‘swan-neck’ pediment, with ivory finial and ebony and boxwood frieze, over excellently proportioned case of rich ‘Cuban’ mahogany, strung in boxwood and ebony, inlaid with delicate conch-shell paterae, and inset with well engraved silvered brass adjustable hygrometer, detachable mercury thermometer, 10-inch main barometer dial with cast brass bezel, and unusual signature plate.
