inscribed: View of the City of Ghusni (sic) from the hills east of/the city./Taken at the time of the encampment of the Force of/Sir D.M Stewart after the Battle of Amad-Khel (sic)/April 19th 1880./The two obelisks on the right of the sketch mark the spot/where the famous DewanKhana or Hall of audience of/Mahmoud the Idol breaker, son of sebeletegin the founder of Ghusni (sic) A.D. 976 once stood,/which was razed to the ground by Gen Nott in 1842/and the gates taken to India from whence they/had been stolen by Mahmoud from the Temple of Somnath/address/W.W. Blackburne/Ivy Cottage/Springfield Road/New Southgate.N.
