Fine quality mahogany Stick Barometer; the arched top over well engraved silvered brass register plate, signed by the maker and bearing rack-and-pinion operated vernier. The trunk, of well-patinated ‘flame’ mahogany, edge moulded, strung in ebony and concealing original cistern barometer tube, which terminates within turned cistern cover.

Dollond was undoubtedly one of the finest and most innovative of all barometer makers, achieving the highest international reputation even in his lifetime, and whose descendents continued to develop the business’ reputation into the most acclaimed of the 19th Century. It was acquired by Aitchison in 1913
