A French 19th century Vernis Martin lacquer commode with single full length door the upper section glazed with gilt slip with below the panel classically decorated with scenes of lovers in a wooded landscape, the sides unusually of convace form with glazed upper section and similarly decorated panels below all in an ebonised frame supported on four delicate turned, tapered and carved gilded and painted legs, the interior lined with a faded plum velvet. c1870
