Description / Expertise

The son of a silk merchant he was educated at Winchester and Caius, Cambridge. In 1844 he was called to the Bar, in 1851 he moved from Wellsbourne, Warwickshire, to Highgrove House, Gloucestershire. He was a friend and patron of the architect William Burges and of the watercolour artist David Cox. He is known for his fine watercolours of shells.
